Concept Car of the Week: Ford Synergy 2010 (1996)

Fri, 26 Sep 2014

In the early 1990s, the US government instigated the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles research program (PNGV). This brought Ford, GM and Chrysler together to collaborate in developing cars that could achieve up to 80mpg, and be ready to market by 2003. Sat, 06 Feb 2010

BMW is sprucing up its X5 SUV with range of cosmetic updates and engineering tweaks. A range of SUV-atypical 19in and 20in wheels provide a planted stance for Chelsea, if not China. What's new under the bonnet of the facelifted X5?Eight-speed ZF automatic boxes are now standard across the board; their spread across the BMW range is endemic, in the quest for lower CO2 and higher mpg.

Hidden away in the depths of the wheels and tyres hall lurked this mutated MPV, slammed on 30-inch wheels. Surrounded by the DUB editorial team, the project car attracted manic attention - presumably because it was the biggest freak at SEMA 2007.
