Audi RS5 engine confirmed, plus RS5 cabrio

Wed, 13 May 2009

By Tim Pollard (artist's impression by Radovan Varicak) Motor Industry 13 May 2009 13:44 Audi will fit a refettled naturally aspirated 4.2-litre V8 to its secret new RS5, CAR can confirm. We had previously reported the RS5 would use a twin-turbo iteration of this engine, but a senior source has told us it will not feature forced induction. We’re told it’s the same high-revving engine that powered the outgoing RS4, albeit spruced up with the latest Ingolstadt know-how.

Porsche 917s at Goodwood – Porsche Goodwood News

Fri, 03 Jul 2009

Porsche are bringing a number of Porsche 917 Le Mans cars to the Goodwood Festival of Speed But Porsche aren’t just bringing along the 917s, they’re also bringing along a bunch of 917 drivers to re-create their exploits, including Richard Attwood, former F1 driver and 1970 Le Mans winner for Porsche, driving a 917; sports car racing legend Brian Redman will be behind the wheel of the 917/30 CanAm racer; David Piper, who bought a 917 new from the factory in 1969, will be driving his own car; and Jackie Oliver, who won Le Mans in 1969, will be reunited with an evocative Gulf-liveried 917. Treats galore. But Porsche aren’t going to waste the opportunity to bring along something more contemporary.

Audi to buy Ducati – the four rings expands from four wheels

Mon, 12 Mar 2012

Audi has struck an exclusive deal giving it first rights to buy Italian superbike manufacturer Ducati, CAR can reveal. The exclusivity deal gives Audi until mid April when the deal will likely be finalised, according to high-ranking sources contacted by CAR. Ducati's liabilities are around €200 million [earlier report said €800 million, this has been corrected], and our sources suggest the total purchase price is about €250m-€300m. This is a bold move by Audi, which sees the long-term advantage in moving into two wheels as well as four.
