Up for auction is an incredibly nice pair of vintage  NOS Cibie Super Bi Oscars with amber concave lenses, period correct red Bi Oscar graphic and original covers.
Crystal clear lenses with absolutely no scratches, chips or pitting on the glass and shiny, unblemished reflectors with twin H2 bulb design.
A unique detail shown in photo is that the internal reflector is adjustable by knurled knobs, featured on the Bi Oscar of that period.
Lenses are a matched pair with identical fluting, cast in logo/code/ID numbers & locations locations EXCEPT the red "Bioscar" graphic.
See photos for difference in which red graphic is hyphenated on one but not the other. BI-OSCAR versus BIOSCAR.
That is a small but salient detail and the only difference between the two. Doesn't jump out at you but be aware. Check the photos.
Housings and bezels are dent/ding free but with a few very minor small scratches from storage, finished in early production black wrinkle powder coat.
The housings have the correct "Cibie, Super Oscar, Made in France" stampings in a circle dead center on the rear, includes mounting hardware.
Lamps measure approximately 8.5" overall diameter,  approximately 9" height from mount base, mounting hardware has no rust or corrosion.
Covers are original, nice but not perfect showing more storage wear (scratching) to the right hand unit's logo than the left, again see photos or please ask.
Lamps have been tested and are totally functional, correct dual H2 bulb configuration, matching wire colors and bullet connectors.
Appropriate for vintage endurance racing/rallye cars of the late 60's -early 80's, untouched patina, the real deal.
Questions welcome, shipping in 1 business day to lower U.S. via UPS, others please inquire.

RAC Foundation – Road charging is inevitable

Tue, 06 Jul 2010

The RAC Foundation calls for Road Charging. According to RAC Foundation Director Stephen Glaister, a predicted 33% increase in traffic by 2025 and a reduction in road building schemes and cuts in general make a  pay as you go system the answer to congested roads. All of which is fine and dandy – it gives the RAC Foundation something to do and gets them a bit of PR – but it”s hardly joined-up thinking.

CDR Trend Insight – Downsizing the ‘Allroad’ Aesthetic

Mon, 01 Jul 2013

The ‘Allroad' aesthetic is trickling down to the A-segment. The look is so-called because it was led by Audi's range of Allroad products, which raise the ride height, add lower body cladding and subtly change detailing of the mainstream estate car products. Volvo's XC and Skoda's Scout models do similar things, but until now, we've not seen this aesthetic approach applied to the smallest segment of cars.
