First use the Holding tool to remove the pinion nut. 

Second use the Puller part of the tool to remove the Yoke from the Pinion. (Patent pending) 

Setting up your ring and pinion just got easier with this tool. 

Fits all Amc, Dana, Ford, GM yokes and companion flanges. Accepts 1/2 or 3/4 wrenches.

But Volvo have been working an an alternative for the last 3.5 years which can potentially do away with the battery and instead store power in body panels. Volvo has built an experimental S80 which has body panels made of carbon fibre and polymer resins and structural super capacitors.
