Porsche driver Hans Herrmann, Autoweek columnist Denise McCluggage inducted into Sebring Hall of Fame

Porsche great Hans Herrmann was inducted into the Sebring Hall of Fame, two days prior to the 60th anniversary of the 12-hour race. He was joined by Geoff Brabham, Autoweek columnist Denise McCluggage, Johnny O'Connell and Jim Downing. Herrmann's racing career spanned from 1953 to 1970.

Infiniti Q50 hit by steer-by-wire recall in the US

Infiniti has issued a recall notice in the US for a small number of Q50 models fitted with the firm’s new Direct Adaptive Steering system. This is a ‘steer-by-wire’ steering system that only has a mechanical link between the steering wheel and the wheels as a back-up. The rest of the time the steering is operated by electronics, rather than a direct connection.

The VW Jetta gets a minor facelif It’s three years since the current VW Golf with a boot – the Volkswagen Jetta – arrived, so it’s time for a nip and a tuck to keep it relevant. Volkswagen are planning to roll out a facelift for the Jetta (above) at the New York Auto Show in a few days time and, although this is the North American version of the Jetta, the European tweaks will be much the same. That means an improvement in aerodynamics – by 10 per cent, say VW – with stop-start and low rolling resistance tyres to help economy too, a new nose with new grill, new bumpers and integrated fogs.
