Alfa Romeo will reportedly become standalone company
Wed, 30 Apr 2014Fiat Chrysler Automobiles CEO Sergio Marchionne plans to turn Alfa Romeo into a standalone company, Automotive News Europe reports. Marchionne is expected to announce wide-ranging plans for the brand on May 6 which will see Alfa Romeo become a stand-alone legal entity within Fiat-Chrysler, with a publicly disclosed profit and loss statement. Alfa Romeo is currently part of Fiat Group Automobiles S.p.A., which also contains Lancia, Fiat Professional trucks and vans and the Abarth performance brand.
Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT Final Edition confirmed for LA and Tokyo
Fri, 15 Nov 2013Mercedes-Benz has confirmed its SLS AMG supercar will bow out at the 2013 LA and Tokyo Motor Shows with a limited-numbers GT Final Edition. The 350 examples of the SLS AMG GT Final Edition available are said to represent the ‘last opportunity’ for interested buyers to purchase an SLS before it gets pensioned off – perhaps in favour of a newer, smaller AMG-built sports car. This 4240mm long car that seats four has a Cd value of just 0.19 which, in combination with light-weight construction and an advanced diesel powertrain, gives 20% lower fuel consumption and up to 80% lower nitrogen oxide emissions. This reduction in NO2 is achieved by spraying 'AdBlue', an aqueous urea solution, into the exhaust system in precisely metered quantities to convert the nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water, so even if it looks like it should, it shouldn't smell fishy...
