This is a Raymarine S3 Autopilot system that includes:
  • S3 Course Computer core pack (Raymarine part #E12055) with the following components: S3 course computer, flux gate compass, and rudder angle indicator
  • Smart Heading Sensor (GyroPlus 2) (Raymarine part #E12101)
The external smart heading sensor provides fast gyro heading for use by the course computer and by networked Raymarine multifunction displays for MARPA (automated target tracking). This is the same capability that is built into the S3G version of this autopilot.

This is a type 400 autopilot which is capable of driving Type 1, 2, and 3 drives & pumps for large boats.

This system was installed on our boat in fall 2005 and removed in fall 2015 due to upgrading to a newer Raymarine autopilot system. The system is fully functional.

In additional to these components you will need a drive unit for your boat and a compatible Raymarine control head such as the Raymarine ST6001 or ST6002 autopilot control head.

CDN-GM Interactive Design Competition - interior phase finalists announced

July 19 saw the CDN-GM competition judging and mentoring teams meet at GM's world HQ in Warren, Michigan, to cast judgment over the 99 entries to the interior phase of the competition. The competition asked design students to develop concepts in response to briefs set by each of GM's four brands – Chevrolet, Cadillac, GMC and Buick. The judges nominated three finalists for each brand, who will be invited to attend the 2012 NAIAS in Detroit.

Well, wonder no more – it’s the Range Rover Sport SVR. The Range Rover Sport SVR has been revealed – in prototype form and still sporting camouflage – ahead of an appearance at this weekend’s Goodwood Festival of Speed where it will flaunt its ‘work in progress’ prowess up the Goodwood hillclimb.

Hyundai ix35 Hydrogen FCEV arrives in the UK

The first Hyundai ix35 Hydrogen FCEVs hit the road in London (pictured) The Hyundai ix35 FCEV is the world’s first hydrogen powered production car (although production is very limited at the moment) and the first five ix35 FCEVs are about to hit London’s roads. The hydrogen-powered ix35s are part of the London Hydrogen Network Expansion (LNHE) project which aims to build acceptance of hydrogen powered vehicles and build a proper hydrogen transport infrastructure, initially on London and the south east. Hyundai are actually planning to build 1,000 ix35 FCEVs over thye next couple of years, but the majority of those will be heading for Europe where the EU has a number of projects running to promote hydrogen use for road vehicles.
