Ferrari F1 drops ‘Marlboro’ graphics for Barcelona
Sun, 09 May 2010Ferrari have dropped the ‘Pack of Marlboros’ graphic for the Barcelona GP A couple of weeks ago we reported that Ferrari have been accused of running subliminal tobacco advertising on their F1 cars, an allegation Ferrari strenuously denied. To be honest we can’t know for sure whether there was an intent to subliminally suggest a pack of Marlboros with the barcode graphics on the current Ferrari F1 livery or not. What we can be sure of is that now a jobsworth has made the allegation we all think of a pack of Marlboros every time we see the Ferrari livery.
Toyota Auris Hybrid Review and Road Test (2011) Part 2
Fri, 18 Feb 2011Toyota Auris Hybrid Review & Road test Part 2 No one buys a Toyota Auris and expects to go blatting round the back roads, eking every last drop of grip and handling out of the chassis. They buy it because it does everything without fuss, competently, quietly – and forever. And if – as many believe – CO2 is the enemy of the planet, then all that sensibleness oozing from every pore of the Auris Hybrid will be wonderfully appealing, especially as there is very little compromise needed to accommodate all that Hybrid Green-ness.
Tony Williams-Kenny announced as Design Director, SAIC Motor
Wed, 19 Jan 2011Tony Williams-Kenny has been announced as the new global Design Director of Chinese automaker, SAIC Motor. During his previous role as Design Director for SAIC Motor, UK, Williams-Kenny worked on various Roewe products, as well as being responsible for designing a new generation of MG models including the MG3, MG6 and MG Zero – the first concept car from the brand since 1985. When interviewed by CDN last year, we asked him how important design is in the company: "For me it's obvious SAIC gets the need for design and the need for a strong brand design relationship," he answered. "We have a really good review group at senior management level too, who actually want to be involved in design reviews and the decision making process." After gaining an MA in Automotive Design and a BA (Hons) in Transport Design from Coventry University in the UK in 1998, Kenny joined Mitsubishi Europe Design in Trebur, Germany as a designer.
