Audi confirms 2016 Q1 compact SUV

Audi Audi has confirmed it will begin production of a premium compact crossover Q1 model in 2016 to rival the MINI Countryman and Nissan Juke. The Q1 will be Audi’s entry-level off-roader, sitting below the current Q3, Q5 and Q7 SUVs. Jaguar gave Martin Brundle, Christian Danner and Justin Bell the new F-Type to play with at Snetterton. Their glowing praise  augers well for the F-Type’s sales. A spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type, the F-Type is the first real sports car Jaguar has produced for forty years, and they intend the F-Type as the beacon to hang the Jaguar brand on (if that’s not a mixed metaphor).

My first Jaguar experience was with the purchase of an XJ6 Coupe which I bought because I thought it was very elegant.  The 4.2 straight six never failed to impress in the way the car just disappeared over the horizon in plush silence (apart from some wind noise from the door seals) and I loved the drama of opening two petrol caps and pumping in fuel from both sides of the car. After long fast drives to southern Germany I always arrived as fresh as when I started out. The car attracted admiring interest from everyone including little old ladies!
