New Audi S6, S7, S8 and RS6 to get Bentley V8

Sat, 18 Jun 2011

The 2012 Audi S8 will get power from a Bentley V8 We reported back in October that Bentley and Audi were working on a new V8 that would power future models from both marques, and we asked if that would mean the end of the W12 in the Bentley. Because although it was claimed that the V8 being developed would be used as an entry-level lump for the Continental GT – a nod to more frugal times – we did think it likely it would be more than that. Chrysler to axe a quarter of its staff

Fri, 24 Oct 2008

Chrysler is to cut a quarter of its staff - up to 5000 jobs By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 24 October 2008 17:05 The credit crisis gripping the world's economy struck Chrysler again today – the car maker announced it would cut a quarter of its staff by the end of the year. Although exact figures haven't been issued yet, it looks like as many as 5000 jobs could be axed. Analysts in Detroit are seeing today's announcement as a sign that the possible GM-Chrysler merger being discussed could come to fruition.

Bloodhound 1000mph World Speed Record attempt goes carbon neutral. Piffle.

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

Richard Noble’s Bloodhound Land Speed Record attempt will now be carbon neutral thanks to sponsorship by Carbon Neutral Investments (CNI). People like Richard Noble – leader of the Bloodhound Project aiming to break the 1000mph land speed record – are made of the same stuff as Spitfire pilots and Biggles, with a gung-ho approach to the inherent dangers and an inability to contemplate failure; British Bulldog Spirit at its best. So it seems almost sad that a proper Boy’s Own adventure like the Bloodhound SSC – a 133,000bhp rocket and jet powered racing car – should bow to trendy PC sensibilities by announcing it’s a ‘Carbon Neutral’ project.
