DESCRIPTION:

  • Johnson (Evinrude) Dual (2) Lever Ship-Master Remote Control Box
  • Identical to Evinrude Simplex remote control boxes
  • P/N: 173286 
  • This is a super condition, excellent working reconditioned control box.
  • Complete with standard 1979 and after (fits 1950 and up) Type 479 OMC Snap-In throttle and shift cables and connector ends.
  • Shift cable (near side of outboard) and throttle cable (far side of outboard) are 13' long.
  • Box is multi-directional - can easily be converted from starboard to port surface mounting.
  • Light-duty aftermarket plastic replacement boxes without cables or ends are retailing for $159.95 and are nowhere comparable to the original rugged cast aluminum OMC box sold here.
  • At most marine stores new cables retail for $35.49 each and do not include shift and throttle cable end connectors.
APPLICATION:

Johnson/Evinrude/Gale Outboards --- 1950 thru current (with appropriate adapters) manual shift, NOT electric shift

  • Box comes rigged with two Type 479 OMC Snap-In control cables (standard cables that will work for 1950 thru current Evin/John)
  • Also rigged with throttle and shift cable end connectors


    CONDITION:

    • Repowered boat take-out box, very nice working used cables and connectors. 
    • Nothing to hide - look at the 10 pictures, including the inside!
    • From a fresh water lake so no damaging salt water corrosion.
    • Inside is like new clean - no sand, no old caked on grease, no insect nests 
    • Newly reconditioned mechanicals - no missing parts, no broken parts, no parts needing repair.
    • Completely disassembled, cleaned, inspected, lubed, and reassembled
    • Excellent original condition Johnson silver/gray paint
    • Control cables look and operate nice - no kinks, no bends, no vinyl splits, no tape 
    • Exc. operating condition shift and throttle cables enable levers to move smooth and easy.
    • Everything is here - just hook up cables to your outboard and fasten box to your boat.
    CABLE MEASUREMENT:
    • 13' factory cable measurements are taken from the brass tube end to brass tube end.
    • If you are measuring just the length of the black vinyl jacket, the 13' cable measurement would be 11' 10 3/4".

    The MINI Cooper is being recalled over fires Following an investigation started in October, BMW in the US has issued a recall for 88,911 MINI Coopers built between 2007 and 2011. Back in October we reported that the MINI Cooper S was under investigation in the US after a spate of fires. ‘Spate’ may be a bit strong as, at that time, there had been a total of just 12 fires reported.

    Volvo Concept XC Coupé revealed. Previews 2015 Volvo XC90 Coupe Volvo gave us a tease for the Concept XC Coupe last month – ahead of its debut at the Detroit Auto Show next week – but now the XC Coupe gets a proper reveal. The Concept XC Coupe is clearly a very firm look at the 2015 Volvo XC90, but instead 0f previewing its as a seven-seat, five-door SUV, Volvo has chosen to deliver the Concept XC as a two-door, four-seat XC90 – think of it probably as Volvo’s X6 or an ‘Allroad’ version of the next XC90.

    Europe inches towards CO2 deal

The EU’s 27 governments are set to agree a Europe-wide limit of 130g/km as a new-car average by 2015, according to sources in Brussels. The deal is likely to start from 2012, with full compliance three years later.
