A look at the Ford Mustang Boss builders
Fri, 03 Jun 2011Ford on Friday offered a glimpse of its assembly process for the Mustang Boss 302S race car by hosting a tour of the Niche Build Line adjacent to the Mustang assembly plant in Flat Rock, Mich. The Niche Build Line, when not assembling race cars, is where prototype vehicles are assembled prior to full production. Mustang bodies-in-white are first taken to an outside vendor, where roll cages are installed.
New Honda NSX: Time to raid the piggy-bank as the order book opens in the UK
Thu, 18 Apr 2013The new NSX got its first outing at the Detroit Auto Show in 2012 and is being developed by Honda in the US with the aim of producing a ‘green’ supercar with advanced environmental performance without sacrificing on-road performance. The 2015 NSX will not only be designed in the US, but built there too The new NSX gets a mid-mounted direct-injection V6 which drives power through Honda’s Sport hybrid SH-AWD system with 2 electric motors that can apply positive or negative torque to the front wheels during cornering which, say Honda, will deliver handling unmatched by other all-wheel-drive systems. Phil Crossman, Honda’s UK MD, said: We are really pleased with the interest we’ve already seen for the new NSX. We are still two years away from the launch of the car and yet we’ve received over 20 deposits and that’s before we’ve even announced prices or seen the final production car.
Driven: Range Rover Evoque
Tue, 11 Oct 2011As Sam Livingstone opines in his review of the latest Porsche 911, we are in a period of car design consolidation, with the new 911 the ultimate expression of a slightly suffocating trend. Yet every so often, a vehicle appears that breaks these rules and – through a combination of factors that can be difficult to quantify – captures the imagination, becoming a symbol of the times and an overnight market success. Such vehicles tend to emerge once a decade or so, yet the late 90s and early noughties were extraordinary for giving birth to three – the Ford Ka of '96, Audi TT of '98 and Mini of '01.
