Red
Line Synthetic ShockProof™ Gear Oil provides unequalled protection for
high performance differentials and transmissions which are heavily
loaded or which see shock loading. This revolutionary lubricant is
completely different from conventional lubricant technology in several
ways. The viscosity characteristics are significantly improved. Gear
teeth need high viscosity at high temperatures to prevent metal to metal
contact and a low viscosity when cold to reduce fluid friction. The
ShockProof™ chemistry significantly reduces the thinning effect of high
temperatures. The Heavy can be rated as a 75W250 Gear Oil, but has the
lower internal fluid friction of an SAE 75W90. The Lightweight can be
rated as a 75W140 Gear Oil, but has the lower internal fluid friction of
an SAE 30 motor oil. The SuperLight can be rated as a 70W90 Gear Oil,
but has the lower internal fluid friction of an Automatic Transmission
Fluid. These ShockProof™ lubricants provide much greater viscosity in
the thin layers between the gear teeth, but have very low internal fluid
friction, which means very little power loss for the protection
achieved. ShockProof™ Gear Oil has a 40 Percent lower coefficient of
friction and 250 Percent the load carrying capacity compared to
conventional gear oils, which means that metal to metal friction is
greatly reduced. Temperature reductions between 25 to 75 Degree
Fahrenheit are common in circle track, road racing, and off-road racing.
Improved durability in high performance use is the primary benefit of
the Heavy ShockProof™ and along with the improved durability is an
improvement in efficiency, but if further improvements in efficiency are
desired, and durability is not a major concern, Lightweight and
SuperLight ShockProof™ can be used. Red Line ShockProof™ can be used in
conventional, limited slip, or locker differentials. Red Line
ShockProof™ is designed for use in competition differentials and
transmissions.

Original 1907 Thomas Flyer joins 2011 World Race competitors
Thu, 14 Apr 2011The American-made Thomas Flyer, driven by George Schuster, won the world's first around-the-globe race. It was 1908, and it was still hard for a man to get around the globe, let alone the fledgling automobile. But the Thomas Flyer made the 22,000-mile trip in 169 days.
Partnership Premium 2030 - Part 4
Fri, 16 Jul 2010This most recent episode from Strate College in Paris, France, shows the 3D development phase of a project done in collaboration with Peugeot. The 30 students on the French university's transport design course were divided into 10 groups before subsequently choosing their direction and developing sketches for their individual scenarios. In the video, the French automaker's chief designer, Gilles Vidal, speaks about the collaboration with the school and discusses the project brief, outlining how students were asked to devise scenarios and come up with mobility solutions for a premium Peugeot for the year 2030.
Formula One class of 2014: the official pictures
Fri, 31 Jan 2014By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 31 January 2014 11:30 The 2014 Formula One season is only weeks away. With 2.4-litre V8 engines in the bin and turbocharged 1.6-litre V6s with twice the electrical boost power powering the racers, a controverdial triple-points rule in Abu Dhabi, and wild-looking new nosecones thanks to the latest FIA crash regulations, the class of 2014’s machines are the most radically different F1 cars in decades. If the old adage of a pretty car being a winning car rings true this season, we suspect Sauber, Red Bull and Marussia will squabble for the title, with Caterham surprised to see themselves battling Lotus and Toro Rosso at the back of the field.
