Bugatti honors past heroes with 'Les L
Fri, 26 Jul 2013Evidently spurred onwards by corporate sibling Bentley -- and running out of precious jewels, pure bloods, and Harry Potter artifacts to name their limited-edition cars -- Bugatti is trotting out a limited-edition run of Veyrons to honor its past drivers and past glories. And Bugatti, of course, is nothing without its past glories. Bugatti is nothing without its special editions, either.
Honda cancels V8 program, S2000 and CR-Z convertible, report says
Tue, 06 Jan 2009Fun appears to be on the chopping block at Honda. Plans for the successor to the S2000 sports car, a lineup of rear-drive Acuras, a proposed V8 engine and a drop-top built off the CR-Z hybrid are all dead, according to a report in a British magazine. The reason: Honda is rethinking its product plans as it grapples with the global downturn in sales and economic conditions, Autocar is reporting.
Early cars, fashion on display at the Petersen
Thu, 16 Sep 2010Automotivated, a new exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, traces the evolution of clothes worn in cars--from the bulky circus-tent stuff people had to wear to keep from freezing to death in the jangly, open-topped conveyances of 100 years ago, up to the height of the European Concours in the 1920s and '30s, when what you and your date wore was just as important to winning best of show as the styling of your Delahaye/Delage/Talbot Lago. “In the earliest days of the automobile, you were sitting on the car, you weren't sitting in it,” said Leslie Kendall, curator at the Petersen. So the first section of the exhibit shows people (mannequins dressed as people) in heavy, practical overcoats, scarves and goggles.
