You are purchasing a complete PMD Cooler Kit for a 6.5L GM/Chevy ('94-'01). This kit includes a NEW PMD, remote mount cooler, and #9 resistor.

Tired of replacing your pump?

We install these kits on the 6.5L trucks that we work on here in our shop. A major problem that occurs with this particular pump is that the PMD goes bad and these kits have been successful to us in making the pumps last longer.

FS Pump Mounted Driver (PMD) Passes General Motors Testing

With the recent introduction of the new FS PMD, Stanadyne, builders of the original PMD, has begun a campaign saying the PMDs did not meet GM specifications. With the concurrence and assistance of General Motors, the FS PMD recently underwent product validation testing. Six FS PMDs and six Stanadyne PMDs were tested against GM specification GMW3172 and all DTech PMDs passed.

Background

The FS PMD, as designed and built by Flight Systems Electronic Group, has completed product validation testing and the results have been submitted to the General Motors Parts Organization. The specific tests selected from GM specification GMW3172 were decided upon after consultations between GM and FSEG. It was decided to do an A vs. B test of six FSEG and six Stanadyne PMDs. The PMDs would be subjected to various thermal shock and vibration tests at a qualified laboratory. The tests are designed to simulate the temperature and vibration environments a PMD would be subject to over 100,000 miles of use. It was decided that after the modules were subjected to these schedules, testing would be performed at FSEG to verify functionality. The testing at FSEG consisted of vehicle test, functional test and pump mounted test stand operational tests.

Results

All FS PMDs and Stanadyne PMDs passed the temperature and vibration testing. The 12 PMDs were then subject to six different electronic function tests. All FS PMDs passed the tests as well as the Stanadyne PMDs. Then, all PMDs were tested using a Hartridge AVM2-PC test stand and Stanadyne “Blue Box” tester. All FS and Stanadyne PMDs passed the OEM specified tests. Finally, on-vehicle testing was performed on all PMDs. Again, all of the FS and Stanadyne PMDs passed the tests with no engine starting/running problems and no fault codes were set.

Conclusion

The FS PMDs, when tested against General Motors test specifications, have now been proven to be equivalent to the Stanadyne PMD and have passed the GM tests. The final results have been submitted to GMSPO for their action. When you take into consideration the additional design advantages and value of the FS PMD, the decision to use FS PMDs and FS remanufactured DS pumps becomes even easier. Remember, now you do have a choice. FS Products!

Vauxhall's new two-seat EV city car concept (2011)

Wed, 07 Sep 2011

Alongside the Astra GTC and Zafira Tourer, Vauxhall (and thus Opel) is unveiling something a little more ‘out there’ at the 2011 Frankfurt motor show. It’s this tiny city car, which won’t have a name until the official unveiling next week. And this Vauxhall concept car is what exactly?

Hyundai ix-Metro Concept – too much ‘Design’

Wed, 16 Sep 2009

The Hyundai ix-Metro Concept at Frankfurt The new ix35 – despite looking very similar to most offerings in the same sector –  is enormously competent – at least in its conception –  and well built. Most importantly for buyers it will undercut the current offerings, whilst offering a package the equivalent of the best. But is Hyundai getting a bit too wrapped-up in its Euro-design?

Ford C-Max & Grand C-Max 2015 FACELIFT revealed – debut at the 2014 Paris Motor Show

Wed, 17 Sep 2014

Ford C-Max & Grand C-Max 2015 FACELIFT revealed Ford has been busy grafting their new grill on to cars across their range recently, and the latest models to get the ‘Gaydon Grill’ (and other tweaks) are the C-Max and Grand C-Max – Ford’s 5 and 7 seat MPVs based on the Focus – revealed today ahead of a debut at the Paris Motor Show next month. As you’e expect, the changes amount to pretty much what we’ve seen with the Ford Focus facelift, so there’s a new grill to make the Ford statement accompanied by new headlights and bonnet. Round the back the tailgate has been given a slicker, simplified makeover, there’s a new bumper and smaller lights.
