Ford at CES: Charge your car with science and wash your dishes while you sleep

Ford's C-Max Solar Energy Concept is a "plugless plugin," said Donna Bell, which initially sounds silly -- as if the carefully structured chaos and noise of CES may have finally gotten to her. But as someone who has been managing Ford's electric vehicle infrastructure for the past 20 years, she isn't being facetious. Volkswagen's New DSG Gearbox

The new paddle-shift gearbox, codenamed DQ200, uses a pair of dry organic-bonded friction linings that don't require cooling in preference to the six-speed version’s twin wet clutches. The system also requires less power for the gear selection and clutch servo system, boosting fuel efficiency and powertrain performance.

Ford Focus ECOnetic (2010) revealed at Frankfurt

Ford has revealed the 2010 Focus ECOnetic at Frankfurt For the first time Ford has made Start-Stop an option, which was something we thought should be added to the Fiesta ECOnetic when we had it. The Focus ECOnetic also benefits from Smart Regenerative Charging and something called Tension FEAD (no, we had no idea either, but apparently it reduces friction) which help make the new ECOnetic Focus more economical and less polluting. With Stop-Start fitted to the 1.6 litre Duratorq TDCi the Focus manages to hit the magic 99g/km mark.
