College Exhibition: Pforzheim University Summer Show 2009

Germany's Pforzheim University recently held its summer degree show at the city's Congress Center for students in the school's Transportation Design program. The exhibition included work from nine graduating Masters' students and 13 Diploma students, as well as a Mercedes-Benz-sponsored project by MA students, a Renault-sponsored project by undergraduates in their 4th and 6th semesters and three Volkswagen-sponsored projects. Porsche seeks ‘everyday magic' with film contest

Porsche North America has tapped into its considerable fan base, seeking homegrown visions for its My Daily Magic filmmaking contest. Aspiring directors made 60-second spots for the brand that show his or her interpretation of “everyday magic.” Of those entries, 10 finalists were chosen to make 90-second commercials that will be voted on by the public, as well as by Porsche brass. One film shows a father that has to run some errands on a weekday.

Expert: Fisker Karma's engine packaging, not batteries, likely caused fire

A garage fire last week in suburban Houston has been linked to a Fisker Karma plug-in hybrid, but the company quickly noted that the battery remained intact and unplugged -- and did not appear to be the cause. But if not the battery, then what? More likely, poor packaging in the engine compartment and exhaust routing generated excess heat.
