New BMW Zagato Concept teased for Pebble Beach
Thu, 16 Aug 2012A surprise new BMW Zagato Roadster Concept is teased ahead of a debut at Pebble Beach later this month. Following on from the BMW Zagato Coupe we saw at Villa D’Este earlier this year, BMW are now teasing what appears to be a Roadster version ahead of a debut at Pebble Beach later this month. Volvo V40 teased again ahead of Geneva [w/video]
Wed, 15 Feb 2012Volvo has released an unusual cartoon teaser video for its new five-door V40, together with an additional image. The animated video features a flock of birds perching on power lines before all but one fly off. Being left on its own to dance on the lines, before fading to black with the words 'Be One of a Kind' appearing before advertising the car's imminent arrival. Meanwhile the image (left), showing the car in silhouette, gives little away about the design, unlike Volvo's first sneak peek (right), released in December last year.
Ford invents agile, low-cost solution for prototyping, customization and limited production [w/video]
Wed, 03 Jul 2013A new metal forming technique pioneered by Ford that drastically reduces the time and cost of producing low-volume and one-off body parts may lead to cost-effective customization, redesigns, one-offs and limited production runs. Ford Freeform Fabrication Technology (F3T) forms sheets of metal by two stylus-like tools, one on each side of the surface. Using CAD data they form the part to the exacting strength and finish tolerances usually associated with stamping dies.
