Toyota GT86 Drift Sprint with Keiichi Tsuchiya

Mon, 23 Jul 2012

The Toyota GT86 gets another dose of ‘Cheap Fun’ PR with the Drift Sprint competition featuring Keiichi Tsuchiya. Keiichi Tsuchiya is the ‘Drift King’ with his Toyota AE86 sliding and squirming in balletic slides as he makes it dance in a way cars just don’t. So it makes sense to get Keiichi Tsuchiya in to the driving seat of the new Toyota GT86 to show that an affordable sports car from Toyota can be a whole bunch of fun in ways that more powerful cars just aren’t.

McLaren MP4-12C: The build begins +video

Wed, 02 Feb 2011

First McLaren MP4-12C being built You could be forgiven for thinking that McLaren had already started building their Ferrari 458 challenging car – the McLaren MP4-12C. After all, it’s been turning up all over the place for at least a year, and we even had a good view of the Volcano Orange MP4-12C from Goodwood as it passed us en-route to strut its stuff up the Goodwood Hillclimb last year. But the cars we’ve seen so far – even the Volcano Orange MP4-12C from Goodwood – were prototypes; McLaren’s running test beds for tweaking and refining the MP4-12C before the first cars reach customers this year.

BMW M5 F10M (2011) track test video

Wed, 11 May 2011

BMW M has released new video footage of the upcoming F10M M5 performance testing at the BMW Miramas test centre in southern France. Is this BMW M5 video worth risking a sneaky peek at the office? If you like the M5 or fast cars in general, yes. Compared to previous entries in the M5 teaser video campaign this one shows the BMW M engineers creating enough wheelspin and oversteer to make us think that they're auditioning to work in the motoring media. The video, at nearly four minutes long, shows M5 prototypes largely stripped of camouflage sheeting being put through their paces on the test circuit, as well as undertaking some low speed incline testing on a 32 degree gradient. What we can see conforms with the M5 Concept shown at the 2011 Shanghai motor show.Apart from the aforementioned tyre abuse, you also get clear shots of the new M5's instrument panel, showing the M-DCT transmission's shift mode selector and adaptive damping display.
