Audi R8 spyder appears headed for Frankfurt show
Thu, 28 May 2009The much-anticipated Audi R8 spyder likely will make its world debut in production guise at the Frankfurt motor show in September. The drop-top version of the head-turning German supercar would share mechanicals with the coupe, which offers a V8 making 420 hp and a V10 with 525 hp. The R8 has a mid-engine layout and channels power to the ground with all-wheel drive.

The all-wheel drive Audi, which is the top-of-the-range Audi limo, may only change a little visually but delivers big upgrades in its driver assistance systems, as well as tightening its fuel consumption by up to 10%. But ahead of the official debut BMW has released this teaser video. Of course it's a PR stunt, with glimpses of the Concept X1 mixed in with shots of skateboarders and grafftti artists, but it gives us our first look at the new X1 on the move.
