New York auto show: 2011 Hyundai Sonata hybrid

Hyundai's first hybrid based on the striking new Sonata sedan will be revealed on Wednesday at the New York auto show, and today we're getting a glance of how the car will look. Hyundai has released a teaser shot of the hybrid Sonata, and it appears to differ a bit from the gasoline-powered version with a different grille and reconfigured fascia. Drink-drive Idowu 'fled home row'

FORMER OLYMPIC triple jumper Phillips Idowu, from Essex, was caught drink driving after police were called to a domestic incident at his home. The 34-year-old, from Epping, pleaded guilty to driving his white Land Rover in the town's Bridge Hill after a night out while two and a half times the legal alcohol limit. Speaking after the case at Chelmsford Magistrates' Court, Essex Police confirmed that they had stopped Idowu as he fled a disturbance at his house.

Hendrick pays $1 million for first 2014 Corvette Stingray convertible

The first 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray convertible sold Friday for $1 million at the Barrett-Jackson auction in Palm Beach, Fla., to car dealer and NASCAR team owner Rick Hendrick. Hendrick now has a pair of the seventh-generation Corvette after purchasing the first coupe for $1.05 million in January. Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.
