Predictably enough, the next turbocharged model - the facelifted 2015 Ferrari 458 Italia - is just round the corner. Right about now the 3000 guests of The Quail should be oohing and ahhing at the car's Aston Martin “lightning silver” paint and subtly muscled haunches, probably hearing about how G.A.S. swapped out the supercharger on the 5.4-liter V8 and replaced it with twin 61-mm turbochargers making almost double the horsepower of the stock car.

General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles. GM on Wednesday disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, spokesman Vince Muniga said. "All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said.
