One Lap of the Web: Nine cars you'll drive in hell, airbag watermelon destruction and luxury, Soviet-style
Mon, 12 Aug 2013-- After carefully weighing the options, Motor Authority has arrived at a list of the nine cars you'll drive in hell. The Aztek is an easy (if misunderstood) target, and the Renault Fuego makes sense on the basis of its name alone but there are a few unexpected additions, too -- like the Tesla Model S, which won't be easy to keep running because “… Hell is a lot like the San Francisco airport--roughly five thousand people and their 25,000 battery-powered devices, all fighting for a pull off Hell's only functional power outlet.” -- Don't ask us why, but we're fascinated with old Soviet steel, from the no-nonsense heavy duty trucks the crappy Cars of the People. The supposedly luxurious, Packard-inspired Chaika M-13 limousine sits somewhere between the two, and you can read a Special Interest Auto article on the car at Hemmings.
Renault Megane CC (2010): first teaser photo
Tue, 05 Jan 2010Renault today issued the first teaser photograph of the new 2010 Megane Coupe-Cabriolet. It’ll be shown on 2 March 2010 at the Geneva motor show in Switzerland, but we’ll have to wait until then to learn anything of substance about the new Megane convertible. It’ll stick with a folding hard top, but this shadowy teaser shot annoys as much as any restricted pre-publicity hype-up: we can’t really see much at all.
Troller T4 4x4
Tue, 03 Jun 2014Brazilian brand Troller has been channeling the Jeep Wrangler's utilitarian aesthetic since the mid-1990s, first with its Rf Sport model, and then, in 2001, with its T4 4x4. Ford of Brazil purchased Troller in 2007, and since then, its domestic design team has been working on a new generation T4 model that taps into the market's growing appetite for SUVs. It showed a concept, called the TR-X, at last year's Sao Paulo show, and has now unveiled a car that closer to the production model expected later this year.
