Monterey car week is the perfect time for automakers to launch new concepts and debut special edition vehicles. But it's usually the big names in the luxury/performance world -- the heavy hitters, if you will -- that show up and show off. Cadillac unveiled the Ciel concept a few years back, BMW featured a Zagato roadster in 2012 and the Porsche 918 concept used Pebble as a stage for its first North American appearance.

The next Mercedes-Benz SL coupes will get more power, less weight and a few neat tricks, including features named Magic Vision Control and FrontBass. We'll get our first look at the new car at the Detroit auto show in January. GM recalls nearly 15,000 Buick LaCrosse, Chevrolet Impala sedans

General Motors is recalling about 15,000 vehicles to fix two problems--reprogramming the electronic stability control in some 2012 Buick LaCrosse cars and rerouting the power-steering hose on the 2012 Chevrolet Impala. The automaker is recalling 10,344 Impalas to reroute the upper power-steering house that could fail because of heat from the catalytic converter. As a result, the hose sprays fluid over the catalytic converter, causing smoke and potential fire.
