The S54 Carbon Airbox is made of 100% carbon fiber including the internal intake runners. Various versions and options are available: a MAF (HFM) version for use with the standard ECU or an Alpha N version for use with Alpha N type of engine management, either via reprogrammed ECU (MSS54HP) or aftermarket stand-alone ECU. The latter style setup is commonly found in motorsport. The airbox is available for fitment with an external air-filter. The CF snorkel is integrated into the airbox (single piece design). This airbox variant is also available as a MAF airbox. The airbox utilizes tuned intake runners and larger plenum volume (Helmholtz resonance) to effect a power gain. The engine will have a more aggressive intake note and a better throttle response. The airbox works particularly well with uprated cams.

Lorinser debuts 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-class
Wed, 04 Dec 2013Brabus and AMG aren't the only tuning houses fielding their own versions of Mercedes-Benz cars, and during this week's Essen Motor Show German tuning house Lorinser unveiled their version of the new W222 Mercedes-Benz S-class. Lorinser has been tuning Mercedes-Benz automobiles since 1976 (and they've been selling them for more than 80 years), though their tuned cars not often seen on our shores. But Lorinser's upgrades to the S-class cars of the last 20 years have been well received in Europe.
