This book takes a look at many of the lost quarter-mile tracks ac ross the country. Some of them are gone completely; paved over to make room for housing developments or strip malls. For fans of d rag racing's past, it's a sobering and interesting study. During the 50s and 60s, the sport of drag racing exploded in popularity. In its early days, drag racing had a class for everybody, from p rofessional rails to 4 door sedans. As a participant sport, drag racing made itself very accessible, and as a result, drag racing facilities sprang up all over the country, some national in scal e and others very small and local. This was great, for a while, b ut with the sprawl of suburbia and various economic conditions li ke the growing expense of racing over the last few decades we hav e lost hundreds of drag racing facilities across the country. Man y of these were places of legend where the biggest names in the s port got their start or ran some of their most memorable passes. Others were relatively unknown, but served a local area's needs f or a safe place for local speed addicts to run their cars. Returns

All non-special order parts may be returned within 60 days of invoice, if in new unused condition, in the original packaging and with proof of purchase. All video tapes, software, books and electrical items may not be returned! Please use the eBay RGA# for expedited refunds. Shipments must be PREPAID using UPS, US Mail, or FedEx Ground. Please include a list of the parts you are returning so we can notify you if something is lost in shipment. For your protection it is a good idea to insure the package for the full value. Refunds will be made in the same form of payment as the original purchase. Freight will be deducted from the original price if it was sold with free freight.

In 1971, Warren Barnett opened an auto repair shop in Norcross,GA with the intention of supporting his family and to engage in his passion for drag racing. After a very short period of time, the company evolved into a racing parts business.

All orders are subjected to a triple-point quality control. Every part is scanned from the shelf to the parts puller's cart. Then it's scanned from the cart to the shipping conveyor. A chase crew from the Weather Channel drove its GM SUVs directly into the path of an oncoming violent tornado Friday, resulting in this dramatic video from inside what appears to be a Chevrolet Suburban being tossed across the Oklahoma plains like a child's toy. Meteorologist Mike Bettes and his colleagues escaped relatively unharmed thanks at least in part to seatbelts and airbags, but the team will need to visit their local Chevy dealer for some minor repairs prior to heading out on another chase.

RAC Foundation – Road charging is inevitable

The RAC Foundation calls for Road Charging. According to RAC Foundation Director Stephen Glaister, a predicted 33% increase in traffic by 2025 and a reduction in road building schemes and cuts in general make a pay as you go system the answer to congested roads.
