The McLaren P1 is one of the most spectacular supercars in the world, and it's been an object of fixation for enthusiasts since it debuted as a concept last fall in Paris. The basics are well known: a 903-hp hybrid powertrain, carbon-fiber for almost everything, and taut, curvaceous styling that introduces McLaren to a fresh generation. The P1 grew out of a somewhat hokey mission statement that McLaren produced back in 2009.

These are the first pictures and details of a new supercar from fledgling Canadian company De Macross Motors Corp (DMMC), which was set up in 2009. It's called the GT1, and CAR has been given the lowdown on this new supercar. The car you see here is a 25% scale model of the De Macross GT1, which is being developed in conjunction with component manufacturer Multimatic.

Mitsubishi Mitsubishi UK has revealed it will sell its new Plug-In Hybrid Outlander EV for the SAME price it retails diesel versions of the Land Rover Freelander rival, rather than many thousands of pounds more – a move managing director Lance Bradley believes has the potential to "blow the market apart. "It could be a gamechanger," he told MSN Cars as the firm prepared to reveal the car’s price. "A car like this comes along once in a generation: this could be our Mazda MX-5, our Jaguar F-Type."
