Saab 96 Deluxe Gauge Panel NOW - New and Improved! NOW with holes drilled for mounting. (I would Epoxy these in and the locknuts on the back to use as studs or use screws. The heads of these screws are recessed so they could be Epoxy’d sanded then painted to match which dash you have and they would be invisible. I also marked the other 2 places for the studs in the center - which I don’t think you will need with the Aluminum. (Marks are on the back.) The original knurled nuts will also work on these studs. THE KNURLED NUTS AND THE BRACKETS (in the pictures) - DO NOT - COME WITH THE PANEL… JUST THERE FOR SHOW AND TELL! The studs and hex nuts - DO - come with the panel. As you well know, the original panels were made of a “hard” plastic. It is also quite thin and flexes very easily. Add in 50 years of usage, they tend to break at the weakest points. Namely the smallest section: the sides and/or the top. Not real easy to fix! Solution was to have heavy-gauge aluminum used to duplicate the original via a water-jet cutting table. The 1st picture seems to show the new panel larger than the original. It’s only the perspective. They are identical dimensions. The black panel is an original plastic panel. It has been “crackle” painted from the original gray. (You can’t see them, but there are two cracks across different sections of it, so it was used as the template - it will no longer hold gauges.) The only thing you need to do is add your method of attaching them to your dash. A couple of ways: 1. You can have studs inserted. (see pictures) You can see the result under the black crackle and the underside of the reverse. Very easy to drill the holes through the aluminum panel to then mount onto your dash. 2. You can use sheet-metal screws and finishing washers. Those are barely visible on the one picture, but more obvious in a close-up. Crackle paint makes them almost disappear... Many folks like the look of the older analog gauges and are customizing their Saab 96 & 95 V4 dashes with very good effect. Will ship securely with cardboard “wrap.” Shipping is $10. May also be picked up in Jefferson, OR |
