Toyota Winglet concept (2008): first pictures

By Tom Richards First Official Pictures 04 August 2008 14:33 Toyota has just unveiled the ‘Winglet’, one of its ‘people-assisting Partner Robots’.  It isn’t exactly a car per se, but it has wheels, a motor, and it is a valid alternative to walking. It even has its own ‘trim’ levels – ‘S’, ‘M’ and ‘L’ (from left to right in our pictures). These range from ‘practical’ (with the long handle) to ‘hands-free sporty’.

Land Rover Defender LXV celebrates 65 years of Land Rover

As part of the celebrations at Packington Estate – which was the original testing ground for the 1948 Defender prototypes – Land Rover are launching a celebratory Defender special edition – the Land Rover Defender LXV – based on the standard Defender and available in five different body styles and with the 2.2 litre diesel engine and 6-speed manual ’box. The Defender LXV gets the sort of toys no one could ever have envisaged on those early Defenders, including a Santorini Black or Fuji White paint job with Corris Grey roof, grille and headlight surrounds, full leather seats with orange contrast stitching, lots of ‘LXV’ badges and even the option of a Union flag on the back. New Infiniti DX (Etherea) based on Mercedes platform to be built by Magna Steyr

The new Infiniti DX is to be built in Europe by Magna Steyr It’s reported that Canadian-Austrian specialists Magna Steyr will build the new Infiniti DX Etherea from Mercedes A-Class components. It looks like the plans by Infiniti to build a production model of the Etherea Concept from this year’s Geneva Motor Show are pushing ahead, with reports that Magna Steyr – the Canadian Austrian specialist car builders – tasked with putting together what we expect to be the Infiniti DX. The DX is Infiniti’s big gun in its aim to take 10 per cent of global luxury car sales by 2016.
