Stolen Jaguar E-Type returned to owner after 46 years

A Jaguar E-Type that was stolen from outside its owner’s New York apartment in 1968 will be returned to its rightful custodian 46 years after the car first went missing. Original owner Ivan Schneider described the outcome as a "miracle" – which it sort of is, when you find out the full story behind the finding of his classic E-Type. Auto Motor Und Sport has been talking to SLS designer Hartmut Sinkwitz – who was responisble for the Smart (sublime to the ridiculous springs to mind) – who says that although it is important to pay homage to the Gullwing Mercedes of the ’50s – the inspiration for the new Mercedes SLS – it was vital that the SLS should be a modern car in every respect.
