Replace your worn or malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor with one of these Standard Motor Products vehicle speed sensors. Depending upon a vehicle's equipment, the vehicle speed sensor commonly called a VSS may influence or control more systems than any other single sensor. Early-model vehicle speed sensors were just used to regulate the cruise control and control transmission shifts. Now, with OBD-II, vehicle speed is considered a part of the overall engine operating strategies, affecting both fuel delivery and ignition timing. The operations of the idle-air control valve and canister-purge cycle are regulated, in part, by the VSS. Automatic transmissions need VSS data to provide the best performance and mileage. Torque converter clutch operation is controlled by the VSS. In an electronically shifted transmission, VSS signals, instead of hydraulic pressure in the valve body, are used to determine shift points. The new Jaguar XJ - we look in detail at what's on offer The Launch Despite our moans about some of the teases that went on in the run-up to the launch of the XJ, we can’t dispute that they worked for Jaguar. The interest was pretty much unprecedented, and one or two big car web sites crashed during the day of the launch because of huge numbers of visitors looking for information on the new XJ. We didn’t crash (thankfully) but our traffic doubled on the day, and thousands of you watched the launch live on Cars UK.

Bertone ordered to auction six cars from museum collection

A selection of six cars forming part of the official museum collection of Carrozzeria Bertone will be auctioned off at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Following the turbulence within the struggling design house in 2009 – including selling its manufacturing arm to the Fiat Group – the disbandment of the museum collection has been ordered by a bankruptcy court. The auction is also a symbolic action: it marks the first time that any Bertone vehicles have been offered for sale to the public.
