And whatever you think of the name, the new Lotus Evora was one of the undisputed stars of the show – and one of the few genuine global debuts. What’s new on Lotus’s London motor show stand?Pulling in crowds of expectant photographers and cameramen like you get at Europe's upper-echelon motor shows, the launch of the Evora gave this motor show a feeling of old-school glamour, not seen at a British expo for the past decade.

First Sight: Peugeot 907 concept

Making its debut at the Paris Motor Show, the Peugeot 907 concept is a two-seater GT coupe, created "with reference to the past, the present and the future", and intended to transcend the Marque's values. The 907 is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 engine delivering 368 kW (500 bhp), positioned longitudinally behind the front axle. Connected by a short propshaft, it transmits its power to a six-speed sequentially controlled gearbox placed longitudinally in front of the rear axle.

Infiniti G to get Mercedes engine

Infiniti’s volume line, the G series, will get a Mercedes-Benz engine as part the global alliance between Daimler AG and Renault-Nissan, the story AutoWeek blew wide open at the end of March. Carlos Ghosn, CEO of Renault SA and Nissan Motor Co., said the G will use a Mercedes inline four-cylinder from Daimler to improve fuel economy and cut emissions. He didn’t say when the engine would reach Infiniti production lines or indicate the extent to which it will replace Japanese-made four-cylinder and V6 engines used in the G sedan and coupe.
