Mitsubishi are now offering the Scrappage allowance on cars from 5 years old [ad#ad-1] Despite our reservations about the Scrappage scheme in the UK, it would seem that it is proving to be a good handle to hang sales publicity on for car makers. Hyundai have told us about their successes and the interesting trade-ins they’ve had on cars sold under the Scrappage scheme, and we reported recently on two guys buying Nissan GT-Rs with the Scrappage allowance. And now Mitsubishi are using the Scrappage scheme to promote new car sales.

June sales get a pick-me-up from pickups

After slumping for several years as the economy tanked and gas prices spiked, pickup demand is rising faster than the overall sales gains of most automakers--serving as a pillar once again during the industry's fledgling recovery. Buick is adding a turbo variant this fall as the premium model for the Verano lineup. While it's meant to be sporty, the idea behind the sedan is to offer buyers a reasonably powerful option that allows for more amusing commutes, but admittedly, it isn't a dedicated performance model. This is a measured approach, which means extra output for expressway merges and launches from lights, but no hard-core suspension or brake packages.
