Volkswagen mulls new Phaeton for the US market

Volkswagen is giving some serious thought to bringing back the Phaeton sedan to the U.S., Automotive News reports. We haven't seen the Phaeton since 2006, when it was withdrawn from the North American market after lackluster sales. Built at the same factory as the much more expensive Bentley Continental GT and sharing much of the underlying mechanicals, the Volkswagen Phaeton managed to be a slower seller in the U.S.

The most recent advance in vehicle safety has to be the autonomous emergency braking system (AEB) – a sophisticated suite of sensors and electronics that monitors objects in front of your car, automatically applying the brakes for you if it senses you’re heading to hit something. Up until now these auto-brake features have not been rated, but ahead of a new 2014 test that will include AEB systems in its overall safety star scoring, Euro NCAP has put the some of the vehicles already equipped with this technology through their paces. Infiniti Q70, QX80 and QX80 Limited show off at New York auto show

Infiniti, the brand of Q, is showing off its updated 2015 lineup at the New York auto show. Included is the Q70 sedan, along with the brand's QX80 and QX80 Limited SUV models. The 2015 Q70 will be introduced for the first time in a long-wheelbase version, adding an additional 5.9 inches over the previous generation.
