During normal operation, oil pressure from the engine keeps the ball valve
in the Sentinel Master Control in the raised position, allowing fuel to ow to the engine. With a loss of oil pressure, the ball valve drops and fuel ow is cut o or reduced, depending on the type of systems.

Customized Operation:

Because the piston design in the Master Control utilizes engine fuel pressure to assist in closing the fuel valve, the Master Control can be closed at a higher working oil pressure then its original low idle setting.

For example, a Sentinel Master Control installed in a Detroit Diesel engine has a primary oil pressure setting of 5 PSI for idle conditions. However, when running at governed speed under load, this engine produces approximately 70 PSI to
80 PSI fuel pressure. Under these conditions, the Sentinel Master Control closes the fuel supply to the engine when diminishing oil pressure reaches 15 PSI, not the primary setting of 5 PSI. 

Master Control for Automatic Torque Reduction:

A fuel ori ce inside the Master Control automatically controls fuel ow
under emergency conditions, causing predetermined, reduced RPM. It supplies metered start-up fuel.

The new Mazda3 (pictured) arrives – and it looks good. The Mazda3 is already a better car than its sales would suggest, and the all new Mazda3 looks to be even more competition for the Ford Focus and VW Golf than ever before. Perhaps the only complaint about the Mazda3′s design is that it looks a bit too much like a shrunken Mazda6, but that’s a bit like moaning the DB9 looks like the Vanquish (well, the Mazda3′s not that good looking, but it makes the point).
