These 14" wire wheel covers, made in Taiwan for Custom Accessories, Inc. of Richmond, Illinois, have been in storage for years. They were never put on any car. The box got wet and rotted, and has been thrown away. The original part number for Custom Accessories is C.A. 96661. This may be important, because while the wheels were in storage, three of the four black plastic center caps were punctured by the protruding bolt-end on the inside of the wheel cover stacked above it (see picture 4). You may still be able to get replacement center caps from Custom Accessories. They have a website at causa.com

These wheels are not lightweight junk. Each weighs about 5 pounds.

BMW 640d xDrive announced

Fri, 24 Feb 2012

On Thursday, Greg Kable waxed effusively about the new BMW M550d xDrive coupe, suggesting that it was the ultimate 5-series for everyday use. On Friday, Munich announced that the 5's two-door sibling will receive an AWD diesel variant: the 640d xDrive. While not quite as high-zoot as the 5-series' top oil burner, the 640d's 3.0-liter, twin-turbo straight-six cranks out a respectable 465 lb-ft of almighty torque between 1,500 rpm and 2,500 rpm, plus 313 hp at 4,400 rpm—numbers that, according to BMW, will carry the 6-series to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds.

Kitten hitch-hiker

Fri, 18 Jul 2014

COUNCIL STAFF staff are appealing for the owners of a black kitten to come forward - after it hitched a lift on one of their vans. The kitten was found cowering under the wheel-arch of the vehicle by horticultural workers at South Somerset District Council. It is believed to have boarded the van at the authority's Lufton Depot in Yeovil and clung on until arriving in Bruton - around 20 miles away.

McLaren's latest P12 teaser video

Fri, 14 Sep 2012

McLaren has followed up its announcement that its Paris-bound P12 hypercar, teased with an image last week, by releasing a video that suggests the shape and aerodynamics we can expect from the car. The video shows a series of lights passing over an invisible object – the P12 – and using the lightshow it is possible to imagine the general shape of the car, without any detail of course. If the P12's unveiling is anything like the light show in the video, it should be a fantastic experience in Paris.
