Final second-generation Mini leaves production line
Fri, 29 Nov 2013THE FINAL Mini hatchback of the current generation has left the production line in Oxford, after more than a million were made for customers around the world. There’s no time for production staff to rest, though, with assembly of the new Mini hatchback already under way alongside the many other Mini model derivatives. In total, more than 1.8 million hatchback Minis have been built at the factory since 2001, of which 1,041,412 were the currently outgoing model.
GM spending $336 million on plant upgrades for Volt production
Mon, 07 Dec 2009General Motors on Monday said it would spend $336 million on upgrades to the Hamtramck plant near downtown Detroit to build the Chevrolet Volt hybrid car. The plant will begin building Volt prototypes next spring, using the Hamtramck plant's existing production line. Production of saleable vehicles begins next fall.

This one is no theoretical eco powerplant for a fantasy concept but a serious design showcase tailor-made for Hyundai’s very real third-generation fuel cell technology (the previous two versions were in special versions of the bigger Santa Fe and Tucson). It’s Hyundai’s first ever model designed from the ground-up to incorporate fuel cell technology.
