Discovery Velocity TV channel to launch Oct. 4

The Discovery Network is launching a new channel--Discovery Velocity--aimed at upscale car guys and girls. It will replace HD Theater on your cable or satellite system. The initial lineup features more than 140 hours of original shows.

It was only a matter of time before someone took the slammed and attitudinal Range Rover Evoque and turned it into a rally raid vehicle capable of competing in the Dakar. The new Desert Warrior 3 is the result: a rally racer powered by a twin-turbo 3.0-litre diesel, tuned to produce between 275-300bhp depending on event restrictions, and a whole host of serious off-roading equipment to transform this from road to race car. Volvo's eco-friendly DRIVe (2008): first photos and video

By Nick Eaton First Official Pictures 10 September 2008 10:00 DRIVe is Volvo’s new eco-friendly, fuel-efficient technology that will be unveiled at the Paris motor show in October 2008, and we'll see it first on the C30, S40 and V50 1.6-litre diesel models. All of these cars achieve CO2 figures below 120g/km, which places them in the UK's VED tax band B and, according to Volvo, makes them the most efficient cars in their respective classes. UK sales start in January 2009.
