Wide-ranging, weird and wonderful John Scotti Collection to cross block in Auburn
Mon, 28 Apr 2014The John Scotti Collection is, we'd like to think, exactly the sort of assemblage of cars we would put together were we a mechanic who earned his fortune building a group of successful Montreal-based car dealerships. To be sure, the collection of roughly 450 cars represents Scotti's tastes, which seem to tend toward the muscular. But the man, who sells everything from Mitsubishis to Lamborghinis, did an admirable job branching out from the standbys that seem to fill the ranks of every large collection, finding room for both the commonplace and the strange.
Skoda Fabia vRS 2000 concept
Fri, 03 Jun 2011With the Wörthersee Tour celebrating its 30th annual recurrence and the VW GTi celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Volkswagen Group is having a huge presence at this year's show. The Group's Czech arm is showing a new concept dubbed the Fabia vRS 2000, which has been specifically developed and built for the event. Drawing on the Fabia Super 2000 rally car, Skoda's designers have created an original roadster pursuing a single goal: dynamism and the joy of sporty driving.
Porsche's new '911': the Cayenne fire engine
Wed, 10 Sep 2008By Nick Eaton First Official Pictures 10 September 2008 10:13 Another day, another Porsche variant. Stuttgart's fire department has taken delivery of two red-hot Cayennes with a difference: they're emergency vehicles which have been specially tweaked by Porsche's Training Centre for the city's firemen. The Stuttgart fire service claims that the hilly topography of the city meant it needed all-terrain emergency vehicles, and the project was given to local firm Porsche because the Cayenne served up the firemen's needs for something that can go anywhere fast. Nothing at all with them wanting to arrive in style or make neeh-naah noises in a Porsche.
