This year's CCS Senior Show provided another year of outstanding graduates while the automotive industry continues to retract due to the global financial crisis. Given all the negative news about auto bankruptcies and closures, it was refreshing to see such youthful, creative and challenging designs in a modern and hopeful environment. The projects on display ranged from militaristic Jeep off-road vehicles to a microvan for the ‘future family of two = single parent + only child'.

The Nissan 370Z Nismo – a titivated and fettled 370Z – has finally arrived for the UK and Europe and will debut at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Nissan has fettled the 370Z Nismo for European roads and tastes and, although there’s a bit more power, the focus is on driver fun. That means the 370Z Nismo comes only with a six-speed manual gearbox and only as a coupe to keep things nice and stiff and keep the driver involved.

Rolls-Royce has confirmed it will show its first electric car at the 2011 Geneva motor show. The 102EX is the latest in a line of concept cars – EX stands for experimental – which history suggests should go on to influence production cars. The Rolls-Royce 102EX is known internally as the Phantom Experimental Electric and is being used to judge reaction to a battery-powered Roller among owners clubs and media.
