Audi to reveal 230hp S1
Wed, 22 Jan 2014Audi is expected to reveal a 230hp quattro S1 at the Geneva Motor Show in March. The hot version of its A1 city car will be powered by the turbocharged 2.0-litre engine used in the Audi S3, and come with four-wheel drive as standard. The Gallic family car gets a cosmetic fillip, new safety toys and a range of engine revisions to keep it fresh in the face of new competition from the new VW Passat and pepped-up Ford Mondeo. The 153bhp turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol nets lower CO2 emissions, down 14g/km to 153, and economy is also improved, up to 42.2mpg from 39.8.

Thu, 01 Nov 2012As Jaguar and Land Rover expand their model range and move to aluminium construction, they plan to share more platforms. Jaguar has been using an aluminium platform for the XJ for some time – long before the latest XJ came along. The aluminium platform the XJ uses is just the start for Jaguar Land Rover, as we reported back in 2009, and it seems that JLR are planning to use the move to aluminium underpinnings to cut their platforms to just two or three.
