This is a Lucas PL 700 Tripod light unit for the MG TD/TF, MGA, Austin-Healey 100/3000, Triumph 2,3,4 and other British cars of that era with 7" headlamps. It is the light unit only, no bulb. I believe it to be NOS.  It obviously has never been installed on a vehicle. The cloudy appearance of the lens is an artifact of the lighting used for the photos. The lens is perfectly clear. Retail price for a similar reproduction unit varies from $84.95 - $172.15.  NOTE: to paraphrase the Moss Motors catalog: This is a semi-sealed unit with replaceable a replaceable bulb and is not legal for street use where a D.O.T approved headlamp is required.

This part is sold “as is”;  there is no warranty implied or expressed.

Payment: Full payment due within 24 hours of close of auction.

Buyer responsible for shipping or local pickup.  Free local pickup. Estimated shipping and handling via USPS Parcel Select to Seattle is $14.

Ireland preparing to ban smoking in cars

Thu, 28 Jul 2011

Ireland prepare to ban smoking in cars Maybe the erosion of individual liberties should be secondary to safety (although we would argue the contrary), but surely banning smoking in cars – as Ireland appear close to doing – is a very silly route to go? Of course, since anything that can be remotely construed as a company car is already somewhere you’re not allowed to smoke, banning smoking in private cars is, perhaps, a logical step. The argument is that smoking in cars is detrimental to the health of children who are passengers.

THE FAMILY of a Good Samaritan who was killed after coming to the aid of another man on a motorway have describe him as "generous and selfless". Spencer Bell, 71, from Bushey, Hertfordshire, had stopped to assist a man who had fallen from the Bucknalls bridge over the M1 near junction 5 at about 10.45am yesterday when he was struck by a vehicle. Hertfordshire Police confirmed the man who fell from the bridge was Alan Trethewey, 67, from Watford.

VW Beetle Dune at the Detroit auto show

Wed, 15 Jan 2014

Of all the production-leaning concept vehicles at the Detroit auto show, the Volkswagen Beetle Dune's the sort of flight of fancy nobody was looking for. Nissan's Sport Sedan heralds the look of the next Maxima, which will likely trickle down in some way to future Altimas, Sentras and Versas. It looks as if Nissan will put one of its techno-retro RWD IDx concepts into production.
