Chevy Cruze Diesel: As torquey as a classic Camaro?

Thu, 13 Jun 2013

From the Department Of Silly Press Releases comes this missive from deep within the bowels of the Renaissance Center, Junior Wool-Pulling Division, located next to the Quizno's. "Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel Delivers Classic Muscle Car Torque," it reads, and while torque is the Great Equalizer of the continued championing of the diesel engine, comparing it to the sturm und drang of launching a 1972 Camaro Z28 from the parking lot of the Hendersonville, Tenn., Shoney's is tantamount to the sort of blasphemy that gets people excommunicated. For the record, the Chevrolet Cruze Diesel's 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine produces 264 lb-ft of torque, more than the Volkswagen Jetta TDI's at 236 lb-ft.

Nigel Mansell Le Mans debut 2010

Sat, 29 May 2010

Nigel Mansell & Sons - Le Mans entrants 2010 Nigel Mansell is still one of our best known racing drivers, despite it being more than a year or two since he hung up his F1 helmet. But that hasn’t stopped him enjoying time behind the wheel of a fast motor or two and guiding the motor racing careers of his sons, Leo and Greg. Last year, perhaps a little tongue in cheek whilst being interviewed by Radio 2 jock and Ferrari nut Chris Evans, Nigel expressed a desire to get back in to F1 and said he could “…jump in a Ferrari [F1] tomorrow and be competitive.” But going backwards is not usually a sensible route – as Michael Schumacher can currently testify - but new challenges – whatever your age – are to be relished.

Tata is leading JLR bidder

Thu, 03 Jan 2008

By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 03 January 2008 13:16 Ford looks set to sell Jaguar/Land Rover (JLR) to Tata. In a statement to JLR workers today, Ford of Europe chairman Lewis Booth said: ‘Ford is committed to focused negotiations at a more detailed level with Tata Motors concerning the potential sale of the combined Jaguar Land Rover business.’ This is the first time that Ford has publicly revealed the identity of any bidder for JLR.   JLR has been up for sale since June 2007, and other potential bidders include rival Indian vehicle maker Mahindra Group and private finance group One Equity fronted by former Ford CEO Jac Nasser. Tata itself already owns a few famous names, including Tetley Tea and Corus (formerly British Steel).
