Brabus SV12 R Biturbo 800 (2010): world's fastest 4dr

Mon, 25 Oct 2010

Warped Merc tuner Brabus has turned the latest S-class into the world’s most powerful and fastest saloon car. The new Brabus SV12 R Biturbo 800 takes the S600 and transforms it from discrete businessman cruiser to 800hp limousine bruiser. The 5.5-litre V12 has grown to 6.3 litres, and power increased to a heady 788bhp (800ps – hence the name), with a theoretical peak torque of 1047lb ft.

New VW Golf R Mk 7 costs from £29,900 in the UK

Fri, 08 Nov 2013

The new VW Golf R (pictured) costs from £29,900 The best of the MK 7 Golfs – the new Golf R – arrived back in August ahead of its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with Volkswagen telling us it would go on sale in early 2014. But it’s actually on sale now, a few weeks early. At £29,900 (for the 3-door with 6-speed manual), the Golf R is a sensible price ( at least in comparison to VW’s truly silly price for the MK 6 Golf R Cabrio – which they subsequently dropped by more than £5k) and undercuts the similar Audi S3.

Jay Leno gives us the lowdown on his McLaren P1 (video)

Tue, 13 May 2014

Jay Leno drives his new McLaren P1 Jay Leno has no shortage of cars to play with in his collection, but if this video of Jay and his new McLaren P1 is anything to go by, the P1 is his favourite car by far (at least for now). Jay meets up with McLaren CEO Mike Flewitt at his garage and there’s plenty of chat about what makes the P1 special, and how it compares to the legendary McLaren F1 (a car Jay also owns). Then it’s time for a drive out in the P1, first with Mike Flewitt as a passenger and then with Jay on his own as he takes the P1 round the winding roads near his home, and Jay reveals that he put nearly 900 miles on the clock in the first five days he had the P1.
