Cameras to catch illegal parking on the school run

Schools and councils across the country are turning to CCTV to enforce parking restrictions during the school run – and a new low-cost camera system is set to make this even easier in the coming months. According to reports in the Sunday Times and the Daily Mail, the new surveillance system costs as little as £16,000, and is able to record and recognise the number plates of illegally parked cars outside schools. The first photo has leaked of Renault's new Alpine sports car, the A110-50. It's a concept car due to be shown at the Monaco grand prix this weekend, according to online reports of an official announcement due on Friday 25 May. Only this single photo has been published ahead of the embargo - revealing a low, blue sports car with heavy overtones of the Renault Dezir concept car first shown at the 2010 Paris motor show.

The image reveals little about the EV, but we expect the five-seat battery-powered car to have Ford Focus-like dimensions, thanks to its compact motor. We can also decipher that the badge hides a charging socket at the front – a neat solution that’ll make the EV easy to charge in right- and left-hand drive markets.  The introduction of Nissan’s EV comes just a week after the Japanese company unveiled plans to produce battery packs at its Sunderland plant.
