Wed, 30 Nov 2011Volkswagen unveiled its SUV concept, the Cross Coupe, at the 42nd Tokyo motor show today. The ‘SUV of the future', is an all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid that hints at the future aesthetic of such a model from the brand. Dimensionally the Cross Coupe slots between the Golf hatchback and the current Tiguan baby SUV, with the CC's short overhangs contributing to its short length and overall sporting dynamic.

I know, production cars are usually a letdown compared to the concept, but the A7 didn’t actually have any of those massively mad bits concept cars boast – 24″ wheels, sliding doors, glass everything – it just looked good. Somehow it seems much more lumpy now we get to see the production model.
