Rolls-Royce Celebrates 110 Years Of Excellence

LUXURY car make Rolls-Royce has celebrated its 110th anniversary in style, with a gathering of cars at both Goodwood motor racing circuit and Manchester’s Midland Hotel. The locations are significant, as the Midland Hotel was the setting for the first meeting of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce. Meanwhile, Goodwood has become the marque’s adopted home since the split from Bentley and sale to BMW.

Le Mans champ: laser lights are the future

Three-time Le Mans 24 Hours race champion Allan McNish has told us that technology first trialled at the world famous endurance event often makes it on to road cars – and this year’s big thing will be laser lights. Speaking ahead of Le Mans 2014, McNish said that racing is more relevant to everyday cars than people think – with features from seat belts to windscreen wipers debuting at the race. GM to retool factory for new Impala

General Motors plans to idle the plant where it assembles the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid for four weeks starting next month to retool for production of the all-new 2014 Impala and a small number of 2013 Malibus. GM will close its Detroit-Hamtramck plant from Sept. 17 until Oct.
