MG TF – finally built at Longbridge. Plus mystery MG

Mon, 02 Jun 2008

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 02 June 2008 12:18 After a series of twists, turns, delays and wildly ambitious claims more akin to a Miss Marple whodunnit, MG has finally built its first TFs at the Longbridge plant in the West Midlands. We've seen the first TF LE500 models at Longbridge and we hear they will be in dealers soon, priced at around £16,000.  What's changed since the last 2005 cars? These early pre-prototypes look virtually unchanged, but now come with a body-coloured hard-top, leather seats, air-con and improved interior plastics as standard. The cars pictured here have the new standard-fit glass rear screen, wind deflector, 16in alloys in shadow chrome or satin-black finish and the new piano black interior trim and revised dials.

Audi sports car concept previews new TT (2014)

Fri, 06 Dec 2013

By Damion Smy First Official Pictures 06 December 2013 00:01 It may not look it, but this Detroit motor show-bound Audi concept reveals the design language that set the tone for the next Audi TT, due in mid-2014. The TT is a style icon for the brand, with its third-generation looking to use sharper, more aggressive lines from this showcar. While the concept – plainly named ‘The new Audi Show Car’ – rides on ridiculously large alloys and has ‘trademark all-road ground clearance’, and while it won’t form the basis of any particular new model.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse world speed record: Video

Mon, 29 Apr 2013

We hoped that tease might be for something really interesting and new – perhaps the much rumoured 1600bhp Veyron or even the Galibier –  but it was simply a new world record for an open-topped production car. Impressive, of course, but just more of what we expect from Bugatti, rather than something new and innovative. The new world record for the Vitesse was set at the VW facility at Ehra-Lessien where Chinese driver Anthony Liu took the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse to 254mph, creating a new world record for an open-topped production car and, more importantly for Bugatti, an excuse to produce a limited run of the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse WRC Edition with a black and orange paint job for €1.99 million each.
