Overview

The Icarus Sky Connect series satellite communications device consists of a Transceiver, an L-band antenna, and a dialing/audio/data interface device. The remote mounted transceiver is the heart of the system, and contains the Iridium satellite LBT (L- Band Transceiver). The LBT can be thought of as the “phone” in the satellite phone system and the modem in the data system, as it is the connection used to gain access to the Iridium network. The LBT allows the two way transfer of voice and data.

First new Saab rolls off the production line

Tue, 03 Dec 2013

A NEW SAAB car has rolled off the Swedish production line for the first time in two and a half years. National Electric Vehicle Sweden, the Hong Kong-based company that bought Saab out of bankruptcy in September last year, presented its new 9-3 Aero at the factory in Trollhattan. The company, also called NEVS, aims to make electric cars under the Saab brand, but said it will also provide petrol cars until "electric cars fully meet customer demands." The first 200 cars will be delivered in spring costing 279,000 kronor (£26,000) each.

Land Rover Defender to be built in Sri Lanka

Tue, 09 Apr 2013

The Land Rover Defender is to be built outside the UK in a new plant in Sri Lanka to produce Defenders for the region. Land Rover are assisting and training staff at a new assembly plant in Hambantota, Sri Lanka, run by Sathosa Motors PLC in a 50-50 deal with Land Rover distributors SML Frontier Automotive, with $1 million being invested to get the project up and running this year. It seems clear from the level of investment that this is simply an assembly operation using CKD kits from the UK for the Defender, but Sri Lank’s Daily News is reporting that there are plans to invest $500 million in the project.
