Carlsson C25 super coupé (2010) first official pictures
Wed, 27 Jan 2010Mercedes tuner Carlsson will whisk the covers off this slinky new sports coupe at the 2010 Geneva motor show. The new C25 is Carlsson’s take on the Merc CL and this reskinned supercar will be one of the world premieres at the Palexpo arena. Carlsson says it’s the company’s first own-developed and badged road car and it just about looks convincingly different enough from the SL to warrant that claim, we reckon. Just 25 C25s will be built, each powered by a breathed-on Mercedes 743bhp bi-turbo 6.0-litre V12.
Volvo XC60 R-design – more detail
Tue, 25 Aug 2009Volvo has released more details of the XC60 R-Design Although the XC60 R-Design doesn’t get any sort of power boost, it does get some tweaks to the setup to provide a more sporty drive. Volvo has stiffened up the chassis and added more damping, and tweaked the steering ratios to give a quicker response. But Volvo reckons this has virtually no impact on ride quality (which begs the question ‘Why didn’t they do it to start with if there’s no trade-off’) and sensibly they have not gone down the lowered suspension route, so the XC60 still has good ground clearance. Volvo has added a rear seat entertainment package option to the XC60 On the cosmetic front, the R-Design gets body coloured lower section, matt silk metallic finish for the trim and chrome tailpipes.
CAR interviews BMW design chief Adrian van Hooydonk (2009)
Tue, 03 Nov 2009By Guy Bird Motor Industry 03 November 2009 09:22 CAR: Chris Bangle once told a great story about sending BMW designers to study with an origami master to gain influence. Judging by the Vision EfficientDynamics concept it looks like you were on that trip? Adrian van Hooydonk: I didn’t go along but in the recent past our designers have experimented with a lot of things – folded metal, folded paper, even plywood – and on this concept car maybe all of that came to fruition.
